Video Images, remaining on the cutting edge of technology, is now offering your wedding day captured in beautiful 16:9, 1080i HDV quality video. HDV is a "consumer high-definition video format". Although not yet deliverable to play on standard, DVD set-top boxes, your wedding will be captured using Sony's latest technology in video cameras, preserving your day in beautiful HDVideo.

Media wars are nothing new to the home consumer - first, it was BetaMax vs. VHS then DVD+R vs. DVD-R. Continuing the battle yet to be won is Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD. Once the industry has embraced a clear standard, the master HDV tape will be transferred to this latest technology. Until then, you and your loved ones can enjoy your wedding documentary on the current standard DVD format.
HDTV is the biggest breakthrough in broadcasting since color TV. It offers wider pictures with greater detail and the clarity of motion pictures. Compared to standard television (NTSC), the true HDTV image has twice the luminance definition - vertically and horizontally - and is twenty-five percent wider.

Standard television aspect ratio is 4:3 (four units wide, three units high) - the HDTV aspect ratio is 16:9. The 16:9 ratio is much closer to the average wide-screen image shown in movie theaters. The biggest difference, and the greatest appeal of HDTV, is its clarity.
True HDTV pictures are composed of 1080 active lines (1125 total) whereas current standard television pictures are composed of only 486 active lines (525 total). The fine-grained HD picture contains five times more information than does the standard television picture and is accompanied by multi-channel, CD quality sound. The difference in video and sound quality is dramatic.
Basically, HDV is a 19 megabit-per-second MPEG-2 transport stream that records to existing standard DV format digital video cassettes, the most popular form factor of which is the Mini-DV shell. The transport stream interface conforms to IEEE 1394 (FireWire). HDV is native 16:9 at a resolution of 1280 pixels wide by 720 pixels tall.
